the Perks.

Know what's great about randomly starting your own blog on a random website and sporadically advertising it?

People actually take you seriously.

And now, I present, the Met Gala's Best Dressed:

5.  Carey Mulligan in Prada.  It's a whole dress in paillette.  And it's probably really uncomfortable.  She should win just based on that.

4.  Mary Kate Olsen in The Row.  Shut up.  You know I'm weirdly in love with her.  She may be all Victorian Goth but man do I dig it.

3.  January Jones in Versace.  I kind of hate her.  As a human being, I mean.  But in this dress, she's tolerable.  I love the peplum, the cut-outs in the bodice and the contrasting color underneath.  I can really appreciate an impeccably well-crafted dress.

2.  Karlie Kloss in Jason Wu.  My love for Jason Wu knows no bounds and this dress is spectacular.  Let's be honest, it should probably be number 1.

1. Christina Ricci in Thakoon.  I. Just. LOVE. This. Dress.  Yes I know.  Most likely, people think it's utterly hideous.  Fine.  Okay. I know what you're saying.  But it's just....so not.   It's lace, it's midriff, it's volume, it's inordinate amounts of fabric coming out at awkward angles.  It's everything a stupid Fashion Ball should be. And I eff-ing love it.

Hey.  I think Christina Ricci won last year too.  Good for her.

Of Prints and Spring.

And Instagram. Because, let's face it - I probably would never have posted again if it weren't for the awesome faux-hipster feeling that Instagram gives me.  I mean, just look at that photo - the lighting...the coolness...the everything.  Swoon.  And yes, I am aware that I'm super behind on this technology but to that I say, Shut up, iPhone users.

Aside from my disgusting obsession with a non-tangible mobile phone app, it's (nearly, kinda sorta) spring and as cliche as it sounds, prints (especially florals) are all over the place.  In fact, the best use of floral pattern I've seen has been on pants.  This is coming from the girl who took 6 months to buy a pair of non-denim colored jeans.

So click through, like some things, don't like them.  Doesn't matter to me.  I'm too busy Instagraming my life.

[Everything in the photo minus the shoes is from Target.  I'm a bit of a groupie.  Clockwise from top: Target watercolor dress, $20ish; Tucker for Target dress, also $20ish; Vera Wang for Target Shoes, let's say also $20ish; Jason Wu for Target skirt, $30 - oh yeah, I caved and bought one. It was on sale and I don't really have any commitment to my morals.  Sue me]

Stripe (stripe) City.

[At some point basing titles of posts on rap songs is going to get old. Until then, I'm trying to bang out as many ridiculous references as I can.]

I'm pretty sure that I've already done a post on stripes and if I really cared, I'd probably gone back through my one hundred posts (yay!) to figure it out. But let's face it, I'm lazy and stripes deserve more than one post, damn it. Stripes are beyond time and reason and unique color combinations just make them even trendier. I'm on this neon color kick so anything with neon stripes makes me want to empty my bank account. Particularly I'm a fan of the big color blocks separated by thin stripes but honestly, any variation of horizontal stripes scream classy. And polished. And just all around awesome. So here's to you stripes. Thanks for keeping me symmetrical. [the title of this post alludes to the classic song, "Rack City" by Tyga. This is also post number one hundred. Or as Tyga, and now I, say, one hundid. Did I mention that it's awesome that people read this and take me seriously?].

What I bought instead of Jason Wu for Target

BOOM:

Shoes: DSW, BCBG Paris, $80

Purse: Target, $12.99

Nothing against you Jason Wu (because I wholeheartedly was in love with your line) but the desire to by designer capsule collections has kind of lost its thrill.  Plus the fact that I went to Target at 10:00a.m. in OHIO and still only managed to find two things in my size forced me to come to these realizations:

1.  As much as I'm a label whore on the surface, at heart, I'm a girl who wants what no one else has.  That was why when I saw these shoes I wanted to cry at how good they looked (ask any of the sale's reps. It was a pretty disgusting sight.).

2.  There will always be a designer something or another.  And there will always be things you can buy without a designer label.  And then there will be things you NEED to buy the minute you see them.  I'd rather have money for the latter.

3.  Finally, if I really want it that bad - that's what eBay is for.

4.  I also kind of realized I have a problem.  Once I've set money aside for something, I have to spend it. I can't save it or anything like a responsible adult.  I don't know what this says about me.

Don't get me wrong.  I'm still going to cheek out the lookbooks, add release dates to my calender, and maybe even get up at 10am for these things.  But I'm officially over the hype, the buy-it-or-be-uncool, if you will.  Because let's face it, I'm pretty cool without any of it (and modest too).
